From archival garments revived through innovative curation to red-carpet looks laden with botanical references, the evening reaffirmed how deeply fashion and floristry remain intertwined.

With Anna Wintour at the helm, the Met Gala marks the annual unveiling of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition while raising funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Anna Wintour described the 2024 theme as poetic and romantic, noting that it offered room for diverse interpretations. Museum curator Andrew Bolton complemented “Sleeping Beauties” with the dress code “The Garden of Time,” all but guaranteeing an evening steeped in floral motifs.

Curated by Andrew Bolton and Wendy Yu, the exhibition showcased around 50 delicate yet historically significant garments. These pieces were brought to life through innovative techniques including Pepper’s ghost illusion, video animation, and light projection — an immersive journey through the evolution of fashion and its relationship with the natural world.

Among the most discussed looks of the evening was Zendaya in archival Dolce & Gabbana, embodying a rose motif as an homage to Sleeping Beauty herself. The gown, which also featured in the exhibition, bridged the red carpet and the curatorial narrative in a single gesture.
